Squeeze the Squid is a multi-genre Funk Rock band, raising a ruckus in RVA. Starting from LA (Lower Alabama)... to Portland, OR → Athens, GA → Richmond, VA → Birmingham, AL. Consisting of two members and a drum machine; lead vocalist/bassist, Slady Squeeze, and lead guitarist, Barrakuda Bransky, have spent the past few years not only developing the sound of Squeeze the Squid, but the brand as well. The integration of Ronnie, a life-sized mannequin representing the drum machine behind the kit, has been a key component in raising the band’s spectacle at live shows. The crowd engagement with Ronnie has been consistently enthusiastic and unforgettable; even at load-in where intrigue and curiosity is met when Ronnie is brought into the venue.

 

Despite the range of music covered by Squeeze the Squid (rock, funk, country, bluegrass to name a few), one thing that remains constant is the infectious rhythm and chemistry of the group. Not to mention the visual appeal with psychedelic sea-themed attire paired with six-pack abs, a psychedelic squid hat, and a stoic pocket-drummer fit for style. The lyrical content of the music covers many emotional grounds, cultivating feelings of love, grit, passion, raunchiness, and spontaneity wrapped under a hypnotizing groove.
